LED Spot Lights
Fixture electrolysis is occurring and causing
the paint to start peeling
Engineer’s report,
On board vessel meet with Franco Sgalla and chief Electrician they reported that the crew just changed out 75 units that all have problems with Paint peeling off.
This problem is common with 8 ships in the fleet that are all suffering the same problem. Some units have leaking gaskets to the J box and a few with leaking gaskets with glass cover. The lights that we inspected is located on Deck 6 embarkation deck and is close to the water and are getting wet with salt water often. Lights are covered in Salt. Looking at the installation connections are made correct. Power for the lights is coming from the ships emergency panel. I asked Chief to try with a few lights to install small rubber strip between the stainless steel bracket and the ships supper structure to see if this will help, also we could try corrosion block applied to the hardware to cut down with surface conductivity because of the salt that is covering the lights
